Healing through connection to the mind, body and spirit.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial sacral therapy is a gentle, non invasive method that involves a light therapeutic touch to the bones of the cranium and sacrum. This method of bodywork is highly effective in reducing stress and returning the body to a more balanced state. Everyone can benefit from this treatment and it is very helpful in the treatment of migraines, chronic pain, and fibromyalgia as well as attention deficit disorders.

Concussion treatment

Concussions often occur after a significant impact to the head or elsewhere in the body. They are common during impact sports, but can occur during any activity where there is rapid acceleration or deceleration of the head or body.  Concussions cause a disruption in the how the nerves within the brain function creating an imbalance within brain cells as well as decreased blood flow and temporary energy deficits within the brain. The cranial rhythm is altered. It has been my experience that even when people are cleared to return to full activity because an impact test is indicating they can, their symptoms persist. These symptoms may include “brain fog”, trouble concentrating, headaches and fatigue. School work in children and young adults becomes increasingly more difficult yet they are told that there is nothing wrong. Cranial sacral treatment combined with myofascial release is a very effective method in decreasing the severity of concussions and allowing the body to rebalance itself. The bones and soft tissue of the head and neck undergo significant trauma and mal-alignment with a concussion injury. This gentle method of manual hands on therapy allows re alignment to happen in a safe effective manner.

Chronic, Acute Pain, and Injury

My treatment approach is highly effective at relieving both  acute and chronic pain. Whether this is the result  a new or ongoing strain in the muscle  or joint  or if it is post surgical, SoulCare will do a comprehensive evaluation including a movement assessment.  Since we look at and treat the body as one unit and are able to access the most powerful system of the body, the fascial system, the root cause of the pain is discovered and treated not just the symptoms. A home program tailored to your specific needs is created and enhances the healing process. This type of approach is possible because at SoulCare you spend 60 minutes with the physical therapist in a quite relaxed setting.

At Soulcare Physical Therapy, I believe in treating the whole person and inspire my patients to participate in their recovery and the pursuit of optimal physical health and well being.

Yoga/Breathing / Meditation

Therapeutic yoga is an inherently holistic approach, simultaneously working on the body, mind, and spirit. This is a perfect pairing with the type of treatment you will receive at SoulCare. While any type of yoga can bring health benefits, yoga therapy is uses to improve a health condition or to ease a natural process, such as pregnancy or menopause. Combined with the healing methods of myofascial release yoga can lessen the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments for people with cancer and facilitate faster recovery after bypass surgery. It is helpful with fibromyalgia, arthritis, Lyme disease and many other conditions that cause pain and discomfort with movement. In clinical trials, many patients with asthma, type II diabetes (formerly known as adult-onset diabetes), or high blood pressure who began a regular practice of yoga were able to either lower their drug dosage, or eliminate some pills entirely. Less medication means fewer side effects, and, sometimes, very substantial cost savings.
